Chinese Paper - Mao-Bian
This lovely golden tan paper (center) is handmade according to centuries old methods. It had a soft textured surface that enhances almost any composition. It is acid free and ideal for any ink or color.

Mao-Bian is made from bamboo fiber and dao-cao fiber (rice straw). It is a very soft, absorbent paper, but surprisingly durable. This paper can be mounted.

Around the studio we like to use this paper for watercolor and brush painting, but it's versatile enough that one could use it for printmaking, collage, paper crafts, or even book binding.

Chinese Paper - Shuen
Shuen paper (left and right) is handmade. These papers are of the finest quality and acid free. They are ideal material for any kind of sumi work, watercolor, or calligraphy. The paper is designed with a unique absorbency which allows for easy expression of light and dark ink and colors.

We carry this paper in two colors: Umber Brown and Pearl Grey. The umber creates a striking background for watercolor work, while the grey is so delicate it's almost like using a paper with a pale sumi wash.
