Washi Eggs
Decorating with Chiyogami Papers

Washi is a fine handmade paper of Japan. Printed with colorful designs, it becomes Chiyogami, the decorative paper that has been used to create dolls, boxes and other delightful and useful things since the 17th century.

Originally, the patterns carefully block-printed on these papers were symbols of good fortune and long life. But over the centuries, everything from flowers to rickshaws has appeared on chiyogami, in richly stylized and brightly colored form.

This kit includes everything you need to cover two eggs with traditional Chiyogami papers - a unique way to display these artful papers in your home.

Included inside: Four pieces of Chiyogami Paper, Two Wooden Eggs, Paint Brush, Gloss Glaze, Two Presentation Stands, and Illustrated Instructions.
