LOTUS FLOWER
Sumi-e Painting
13" x 31 1/2"
The glorious Lotus is the symbol of Buddhism. Its roots take hold at the bottom of the muddy pond which signifies bondage to earthly desires, and its flower blooms above the murky waters to indicate spiritual enlightenment.
The Lotus is the only plant to fruit and flower simultaneously, revealing its relationship with immediate cause and effect.
